Protect Our Communities; Protect Medicaid
Funding for Medicaid is at severe risk of being cut from the administration's proposed spending plan, The Big, Beautiful Bill. Unfortunately, cuts to Medicaid would be devastating. Here are just a few of the reasons why.
✔️ Medicaid covers over 40% of births in the U.S., including nearly 50% of births in rural communities. It is also a vital source of prenatal and postpartum care for women.
✔️ About 1 in 2 children across America are covered by Medicaid, including 1 in 3 children diagnosed with cancer.
✔️ Nearly 50% of children with special health care needs and more than 40% of children living in rural areas are covered by Medicaid.
✔️ Most of the spending on Medicaid is for disabled and elderly individuals. States would not be able to absorb the magnitude of the proposed cuts by reducing enrollment or services for working-age adults. Individuals and families would face severe financial consequences.
Low-income and rural families, children who are sick, have special needs or who live in poverty, the elderly, and their families would be most affected.
